She is also a moderator of the Helium Project, the Embrace Club, the Banana Split Club, and the De-Stress Slime Club. A 2002 graduate of IHA, Mrs. Maka earned a B.A. in sociology from Quinnipiac University and a master’s degree in education and school counseling from Fordham University. She has been a guidance counselor for more than 15 years, with experience in both public and private schools.

Mrs. Maka said she has a passion for helping her students and seeing them succeed. “Each student has such unique and wonderful talents,” she said. “They are passionate and hard-working in their academics, activities, and athletics. They have much to offer to IHA and the greater community. I enjoy helping them to find what inspires them, encouraging them to fine-tune their strengths and improve in their weaker areas. I enjoy seeing them motivate and support one another.”
