International Women’s Day
IHA celebrated both International Women’s Day and our Day of Giving on March 9, 2026, in order to honor and recognize the many women who make up IHA’s unique and unmatched sisterhood. Students were greeted when they first arrived at the school with signs reminding them that at IHA, every day is women’s day!
T
he morning started with an inspiring assembly for students and staff as Zoe DePhillips ’26, STUCO president, began with a message to fellow students about the power of this uplifting community, “One of the things I love most about IHA is the way our teachers, coaches, and classmates support each other. They remind us that our words matter and our voices deserve to be heard. Being a part of this community helps us build confidence in ways we may not even realize; whether it’s sharing our thoughts in class, performing on stage, competing on the field, or simply encouraging a friend, we are constantly working to lift each other up.”
At the assembly, we were also thrilled to welcome back alumna Niki Lattarulo ’15 to speak to the student body about the importance of believing in themselves and pursuing goals despite any obstacles that may stand in their way. Niki, who is currently a sports anchor, host, and reporter at SNY, stayed after the assembly to talk with students at a breakfast provided by the Office of Advancement and Parents’ Club.
Miss Kerry Carroll ’04, principal of IHA, also announced a new scholarship that will be awarded annually at our International Women’s Day assembly to a sophomore or junior in honor of Marita Faletti Crum ’71. A group of alumnae from the Class of 1971 set up the scholarship in honor of their dear friend who passed away in 2025. The alumnae established the Marita Faletti Crum Memorial Award for a student who best demonstrates the characteristics much like Marita, including her passion for IHA, her immeasurable school spirit, and her ability to stand up and cheer for her many sisters. The alumnae emphasized that Marita’s personality was one the world needs more of: she was kind, considerate, full of life, adventurous, and funny. This year’s Marita Faletti Crum Memorial Award and a check for $1,000 was presented to Ashlee Hart ’28. Congratulations Ashlee on this well-deserved award!
Later in the afternoon of International Women’s Day, IHA also hosted our annual Day of Giving Phone-a-Thon. We are incredibly appreciative of all our student callers who did such an impressive job calling the IHA community. We are also grateful for our generous alumnae, current families, parents of alumnae, faculty, staff, board members, and friends who donated to support our amazing students.
