Ms. Sophie Pellegrino is a social studies teacher at Immaculate Heart Academy and moderator of the Self-Defense Club. She received two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Rhode Island — a B.A. in secondary education and a B.A. in history, with a minor in political science.

Ms. Pellegrino completed her student teaching at Cranston High School East in Cranston, Rhode Island. Before joining IHA, she worked as an instructional aide in a special education classroom and in a daycare setting.

Her role as an older sister to five younger siblings ignited her passion for education at a young age, and according to Ms. Pellegrino, “Now that I am part of the IHA community, I am looking forward to empowering young women on all levels — intellectually, spiritually, and socially.”
