New Mural at IHA
IHA is proud to showcase a new mural in the cafeteria, painted by our talented art students!
Earlier in the school year, members of the National Art Honor Society met with Joe Pimentel, a local muralist, to collaborate on a mural in the newly remodeled cafeteria. Nineteen students from the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) submitted design proposals, and after careful consideration, a design by Mia Fernicola ’27 was selected. The final concept also incorporates elements inspired by contributions from other NAHS members and the broader school community.
The mural features large IHA letters in a bold Varsity-Style font, representing the spirit and identity of the school. Each letter contains imagery that represents a different aspect of student life at IHA. The “I” represents academics, and within this letter are images symbolizing learning and scholarship. The “H” represents Faith and service, symbolizing IHA’s strong Catholic identity and commitment to service. Finally, the “A” represents activities and student life, which includes various images of athletics, the arts, and extracurricular activities.
This beautiful mural perfectly encapsulates the school’s identity, highlighting some of the major aspects of life at IHA, and it is such a welcome addition at lunchtime! Thank you to all the talented artists who contributed to this painting and to Mrs. Lisa Encke P’20, director of the arts, for orchestrating this special addition to our school.
