VFW Voice of Democracy Winners

On January 13, 2026, VFW Post 6192 awarded first place to Maeve Dorfler ‘27 in its 2025-26 VFW Voice of Democracy audio-essay contest and second place to Madeline Schlereth ‘27.

 

 

This year’s contest was themed “How are you showing patriotism and support for our country?”

 

As the first-place winner, Maeve received a monetary award of $500 from VFW Post 6192 and Maddie was awarded a $300 award for second place.

 

In addition to these awards, Ms. Caitlin Bonanno, social studies teacher and moderator of the IHA Military Awareness Club was recognized as High School Teacher of the Year by Post 6192.
