Communications

The offerings in the Immaculate Heart Academy Communications Department go far beyond our extensive curriculum. One of the department's most impressive features is the high definition Television Studio with professional level equipment including cameras, a switcher, a lighting grid, and an audio board for use by students with varied interests. Additionally, the department also offers an editing room with the latest editing software including Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Final Cut X. Extended editing room hours are available for after-school student use.

heartTV, our student-run morning show produced in the TV studio, brings the IHA community news and feature stories every weekday morning. The heartTV broadcasts include a morning prayer, birthday announcements, a word of the day, the lunch menu, school updates, and both national and world news. IHA is subscribed to the Associated Press so students are able to write accurate news and create video segments for each day's show.

The Communications Department also offers field production kits including lighting, video, and editing equipment available for student use inside and outside of school. Finally, an opportunity for hands-on learning is available through the Get Reel! Club, where students produce video content, live stream events, and create graphics, among other filming and producing activities.

The Communications Department at IHA is proud to emphasize collaborative learning by replicating real-world scenarios. Many IHA students continue on to become successful professionals in a variety of communications fields. We hope to open students' eyes to the many careers available to them, and encourage their interests and talents in communications any way we can.
