IHA recognizes that technology is vital in preparing students for life-long learning and workforce readiness. It has been our goal to integrate technology into all aspects of our curriculum to inspire a collaborative learning environment where students can effectively find, synthesize, analyze, and produce content, all while promoting the safe and ethical use of technology.
Technology in the Classroom
The IHA community is blessed to be able to offer state-of-the-art technology to our students, faculty, and staff in a variety of manners. Not only are all students and teachers currently on the Apple platform, but our facility also offers upgraded high-speed WiFi, wireless printing, and HD interactive projectors in every classroom.
Additionally, as teachers move away from bulky and heavy textbooks, many are transitioning to e-books. Teachers use multimedia in their classrooms, in addition to iPad applications that further enhance their lessons and curriculum. The IHA faculty and staff seamlessly communicate with each other and students through the Genesis Information System and Google Classroom, which allows multimedia supplements and the flipped classroom approach. The technology used in IHA's classrooms also allows for collaborative learning through things like wikis, message boards, internal file sharing, and real-time whiteboard apps. IHA's curriculum supports the use of professional applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, AfterEffects, InDesign, iWorks Suite, and Google Sketch.
All students, faculty, and staff have school email addresses through the use of Google Apps for Education. Our Guidance and Counseling Departments also use Naviance for transcripts and the college admissions process.
IHA has a technology support staff and in-house technology maintenance available at all times for troubleshooting. Additionally, Mr. Angel Villalongo, coordinator of technology, assists students and teachers with hardware and software issues throughout the year.
