Academic Support at IHA
Referrals for professional academic tutoring in specific subject areas are available in the Guidance Department.
The Writing Center is located on the second floor in the Information Commons. Writing coaches (both teachers and NHS students) are available before, during, and after school. Students should stop by the Writing Center to sign up for a time slot. Contact English Department Chairperson, Ms. Pecora, at firstname.lastname@example.org
The National Honor Society (NHS), a nationwide organization sponsored and supervised by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, is a society composed of students who have been recognized by the faculty and administration for outstanding achievement in four areas: scholarship, character, leadership, and service.
NHS members offer after-school tutoring to students having academic difficulty, a primary responsibility of membership. Please contact the Guidance Department for contact information of private tutors in various subject areas.
Faculty members are available for extra help upon request. Please visit the teacher pages for information about specific classes. Teachers are available after school from 2-2:30 p.m. for coursework assistance. Teacher contact information is available in the Staff Directory.
IHA accommodates students with ISP/504 plans by giving extended time on mid-term and final exams and providing preferential seating in the classroom. In the 2019-20 school year, extended time will not be granted unless IHA is informed of a student having an ISP or 504 by the following dates:
Midterms Deadline: Jan 10, 2020
Finals Deadline: May 31, 2020
For more information on IHA's ISP/504 Policy, please contact Ms. Meagan Papapietro'05 at email@example.com.
