Rebecca Kryceski'16 Earns Girl Scout Gold Award

Rebecca spread breast cancer awareness for her "Got Pink?" project by distributing flyers at her library and throughout her neighborhood. The flyers contained statistics and facts, and offered early warning signs of breast cancer. She spoke to her parish at Sunday Mass, and to her peers at a local high school. She also created a blog, serving as a collaboration of the best information from the web and books, to have her projects’ message be sustained long-term. The blog also serves as a means to educate about the ways to live a better, healthier lifestyle and to lessen your risk for the disease.

Rebecca's brother Gregg, now a germ cell cancer survivor, was her inspiration for this project. Gregg was misdiagnosed several times before ultimately learning he had stage 4 cancer. Rebecca wants to lessen the amount of patients being diagnosed in later stages, as she is determined to make the world a better place.
