Mini Session Four-Day Workshops
9 a.m. -12 p.m.

Mini Session 1: July 9-12, 2018

  • Personal Leadership - $200 (fee included)
    This course is a life-saver for the student who wishes to gain the tools needed to navigate exciting academic and personal growth. Students will embrace the attitudes, practices, and systems that give them the ability to manage responsibility and their day-to-day academic life. The ultimate goal of this course is to inspire students to develop and deepen levels of emotional intelligence and to enhance their intellectual capabilities. This course will go over healthy study, organizational, and life skills. Open to students entering 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grades.

  • SAT Prep: Verbal - $200
    Perfect for anyone taking an August or fall SAT. Learn the skills needed to master the SAT, and increase your confidence level before the test. Open to students entering 10th, 11th, and 12th grades.
 
  • SAT Prep: Math - $200
    Perfect for anyone taking an August or fall SAT. Learn the skills needed to master the SAT, and increase your confidence level before the test. Open to students entering 10th, 11th, and 12th grades.
 
Mini Session 2: July 16-19, 2018
 
  • Broadcasting - $185
    Students gain hands-on experience learning all aspects of television news and feature production in this four-day course.This includes working with the equipment in the TV studio and the Editing Suite, and with field production kits. Students learn to operate and effectively use video and audio field equipment and edit videos using Final Cut Pro. Students learn the techniques of storyboarding and the emphasis is on individual development of clear ideas.Open to students in 6th grade and above.

Mini Session 3: July 23-26, 2018
 
  • Sweets, Treats, and Snacks - $220 (fee included)
    Impress your friends and family with some new treats! Learn how to make fun and yummy no-bake items. This is one of our most popular courses, so sign up early. Open to all grade levels. Not a good selection for students who have food allergies. Open to students entering 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grades.
 
  • Creative Writing - $185
    Creative Writing allows students to develop skills for different pieces of creative non-fiction and poetry. Students read different examples for inspiration, and work on the genre of their choice. Students receive instruction on use of figurative language, sensory details, and structural support, while working both independently and in small group workshops. Students are given the opportunity to express themselves through memoirs, personal essays, travel or food writing, or different forms of poetry. This writing studio allows students to receive one-on-one feedback from both the instructor and peers, and gives a student autonomy in developing his or her creative voice. Open to students entering 8th, 9th, and 10th grades.

Mini Session 4: July 30-Aug. 2, 2018 

  • Essay Writing  - $185
    Does the thought of writing essays for your English class leave you with a splitting headache or a sense of anxiety? If so, this is the class for you! Over a four-day mini session, this course will break down the basics of essay writing and help you hone your writing skills. This course will include tips and tricks for pre-writing and for the actual writing of an academic paper. During the course, students will read short stories, and examine possible essay topics and responses. Students will have the chance to draft, write, and edit responses to varying essay topics. Open to students entering 8th, 9th, and 10th grades.
