Mr. Justin Zelenka teaches history at Immaculate Heart Academy. He earned a B.A. in history and political science from Rutgers University and a M.A. in international relations from New York University.
Before coming to IHA, Mr. Zelenka taught history at Golda Och Academy in West Orange for three years at the high school and middle school levels. He then left to work for a non-profit for a year and a half called Villages in Partnership (VIP). VIP does development work in Malawi, and he was lucky enough to travel to the impact area of 26 villages last summer for six weeks. "I did communications, social media, and development with VIP, and was actually the first full-time U.S. employee," Mr. Zelenka said. "They have about 16 in Malawi." He also worked with an arms control group while in graduate school.
"I'm really excited to be back in the classroom, getting the chance to talk about history every day," he said, "and to watch the IHA sports teams--especially basketball, my favorite sport."
