Campus Ministry at IHA is for the students and by the students. The goal of the Campus Ministry program is to fulfill an important part of the IHA Mission Statement: “Immaculate Heart Academy strives to develop every aspect of the individual by educating the mind and nurturing the spirit. By instilling in its students a sense of responsibility, confidence, justice, peace, and compassion, Immaculate Heart Academy prepares its students for life in the 21st century.”
Students experience and participate in Campus Ministry through three avenues: Liturgy, retreats, and the Christian Service Program. School liturgies and prayer services are scheduled monthly throughout the school year. Students take an active leadership role participating in the preparation of the Liturgy through lecturing, singing, altar serving, and preparing para-liturgies. Opportunities to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation are provided at special times.
IHA’s retreat program supports students in reflecting on their Catholic faith outside of the academic day. Students in grades 9-11 are requried to engage in a day of reflection once a year. Seniors go on an overnight retreat that helps them to assess their own spiritual growth as they prepare for young adulthood. Students are required to attend and are encouraged to participate in all religious services, days of reconciliation, and retreats. Students are encouraged to put their faith into action through the Christian Service Program. Please feel free to read more about IHA's special Christian Service Program here.
